ACTIVITY OF OSH REGIONAL OFFICE Foundation for Tolerance International
In July of 1999 Osh regional office of FTI started its work. Creation of the given office increased possibilities to work in south of Kyrgyzstan and border rayons of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Activity of Osh regional office: - Increasing capacity of local institutes in sphere of non-violent conflict resolution though trainings.
- Initiating local institutes to organize negotiation and mediations process.
- Joint lobbying of citizens’ interests of local authorities.
- Involvement, Activation of local authorities in process of budget hearings.
- Increasing tolerance cultural though joint activities.
- Activation of women and elderly communities.
- Involvement of youth in network building.
- Increasing knowledge of citizens on crossing state borders.
- Law based immigrants’ education.
- Administration of small grants.
Implemented projects: - «Training project»: May, 1999-2000, target zones: South of Kyrgyzstan and Ferghana Valley. Osh regional office ОРО continued working on “Training” project under financial support of UN and SDC. Goal of the project was educating constructive ways of conflict resolution through interactive methods of teaching. Under the project there were conducted trainings for teachers, pupils and students. There were also youth camps conducted for teachers and pupils of three republic of Ferghana Valley.
- «Women for peace: 2000-2001. Donor: State department of USA through Delaware University of SAU. Addressed zone: south of Kyrgyzstan.
- «Peaceful Communities Initiative»: 2000 -2001. Donor: USAID/Mercy Corps. Partners: Institute of Cultural relations EHIO РТ, FIDO Andijan, Association of business women. Kokand, Mehr. Target zones: Osh, Batken oblast of Kyrgyzstan, Ferghana Valley and Andijan regions, Sogd oblast.
- «Monitoring of human rights violation during crossing borders of Ferghana Valley”. Under project of FTI Network of NGOs in Ferghana Valley “Dolina Mira”, August-December 2004.
- «Formation of skills of public organizations for improvement of elderly condition » Donors: European Commission, partners: Help age UK, NGO «Umut», Balykchy. Target zones: Aravan rayon of Osh oblast.
